people are so quick to call any portrayal of mental illness “romanticizing it” but the literal libraries we could fill with straight up copaganda (or “noble mafia don/drug dealer/gangster/yakuza/whatever” propaganda) go unmentioned by that crowd! copaganda literally romanticizes law enforcement! portraying the mob as family guys who wanna be there for their community and maybe do it in some unsavory but comprehensible ways is literally romanticizing gang violence + the fallout of the crack epidemic! but noooo someone with mental illness that’s not just Medicated Anxiety can’t possibly be shown on tv otherwise that’ll make people think it’s fun to be mentally ill!
