@zevinclark: The scary part about sin isn’t always knowing something is wrong and doing it anyway. Sometimes it’s doing something so often, seeing it so often, or living around it for so long that it stops feeling wrong altogether. Gossip. Pride. Greed. Envy. Lust. Hatred. Self-righteousness. Some of these have become so culturally normal that we’ve created softer names for them. And psychologically, repeated exposure has a way of changing what feels normal. Maybe one of the most important prayers we can pray is simply: God, don’t let me become comfortable with anything that is changing my heart in a direction You never intended. And before we use Scripture to diagnose everybody around us, maybe we should let it examine us first.

I think with the last one there are times where people misinterpret a good attention advice as self righteous. It happens a lot , so people don't want to face their own demons sometimes and get offended to the shadow side they have . We are capable of evil but I choose not to and it's a battle daily. People need to practice their decernment to see when someone is actually being self righteous or if they are coming from a place of love because our minds can take correction as a threat and try to justify why the other person is wrong by attaching false labels. that is why Know thy self is important. know who you are so well that you can tell the difference between you being self righteous and you being loving. so when called something that doesn't apply it rolls off not as an offensive but as a knowing . if it offends you there might be some truth but if you know your not doing it and the definition of it doesn't apply. Some people project their emotions onto you to cover where they struggle but that is not all the time. Decernment isn't just a tool to recognize other intentions or God's but also decernment you ( conviction) If you still don't know spend time with God until you figure out who you are and who God calls you to be.
