1. Google “all women’s construction pre-apprenticeship near me” 2. Call the program closest to you and ask when their next daytime/nighttime program is and sign up for orientation. Then complete the program. You will either find out it’s for you and apply to your trade with their help OR you will decide blue collar isn’t for you. Both are okay but you definitely get what you put in. 3. They will have you do demo days of each trade so that you get an idea of what you would like to do/which union you would be interested in & they explain to you what annuity, 401K, health insurance, vacation fund, union fees, retirement, pay scales etc. looks like and means. They will also go over the different application processes IN DEPTH. Literally break it down for you like a toddler & they will help you learn the trades math from scratch. 3. When you discover your trade of interest, they will take you to that union and give you a tour and then help you apply/prep for the test if their is one. 4. Some trades are extremely competitive and only accept 10 ppl a year. Don’t be discouraged, keep reapplying! And even then - with a pre-apprenticeship you may even get in on your first try. (It took me 2 tries to get into my first choice, even with 2 pre-apprenticeships under my belt) Some unions are really big and accept hundreds a year!! Literally don’t be discouraged. Comment questions you have about joining the trades/union I’m happy to answer or make a separate video. #womeninconstruction #bluecollar #womeninmalefields #journeytojourneywoman #trades
