Waking up to a call from a random stranger that your daughter was in an accident with no answers on her wellbeing. Calling her over and over and checking her location hoping for her to answer Driving to her location and finding caution tape, her car, and a police tent covering something on the floor. Calling hospitals in hopes that your daughter is there because the police couldn’t give you any answers at the scene. Getting her belongings delivered to your house with condolences from a coroner. Feeling like God hates you and is punishing you so he took your daughter away to have you feel what hell is. Having to tell all your kids, her siblings, that Des is gone. Picking a picture that your daughter will forever be remembered by to announce her passing. Gathering the remaining belongings from her burnt and smashed car. Picking a date for her funeral, a casket, a plot, and floral arrangements. Picking out the clothes that your daughter will be buried in and having your husband/her step dad dress her because it was too hard for you to look at your daughter’s lifeless body. Putting the last outfit she wore, down to her shoes and body jewelry in a garment bag to hang in her closet. Sit 4th row at her funeral because her dad’s side took over all the first 3 rows despite ever being there for her while she was alive. Closing her casket without any warning that it will be your final time seeing her. And then watching her get buried for forever. Closing her accounts and handling her final business, including caring for her child. Designing a headstone. Going into her room and packing up all of her things. Having to move on with life to be a mom for your remaining children and now your grandchild. Feeling alone and staying silent because you feel like everyone is tired of hearing about your grief over the past year. Past holiday memories with my daughter and missing her presence during the holidays. Visiting her grave as much as you can because that’s when you feel closest to what remains of your daughter. Crying everyday at the thought that I will never see or talk to my daughter again. Feeling that there is nothing after life but death. Pretending to be fine, while kids play, hanging with friends and family, and having to socialize.
