Pearl...Yes we're saying that it's best for the child to be with the parent who primarily cares for the child. The parent who makes sure they are fed, dressed, bathed, gets them to school, takes them to their appointments, etc. In most cases, that is the mother.

Not really understanding how you all don’t see the point here. 50/50 custody should be the *default* not the permanent outcome. Everyone in the comments keeps bringing up exigent circumstances like obviously that’s not the argument she’s making. She’s referring to outcomes of children of single mothers vs single fathers. The other lady is saying “basic human psychology” however the studies she is referring to could allude to either parent not just the mother.

Child of divorce here. My “father” had 50/50 and would pick us up every weekend for a couple months and then guess what? One weekend he just didn’t show up to the pick up spot and I never saw him again :)

"are you a child of divorce" "why does that matter" because it would give context and nuance to the situation. yes sometimes depending on the case it is better for the child to see one parent more than the other. man or woman if they are a bad influence or a danger for the child to be around. stability is whats most important for the child.
