@babalawo_ifalosa: As we see Egúngún festivals being celebrated in the USA, I want to remind everyone of something important: keep your beliefs, respect your path, and allow others to walk theirs. 🙏🏿🌿 Egúngún is a sacred part of Yorùbá tradition, and honoring our ancestors is deeply meaningful. But we should also understand that Ifá is not simply a religion to be compared with other religions. Ifá is a way of life, a system of wisdom, guidance, discipline, and understanding of our relationship with Olódùmarè, our Òrìṣà, our ancestors, and our own Orí. As a Babaláwo, I don’t believe we need to attack someone else’s belief to explain our own. Ifá teaches us to know ourselves, respect our Orí, honor our ancestors, and live according to wisdom and good character — Ìwà Pẹ̀lẹ́. Believe in what your heart and Orí lead you to believe. Respect the traditions of others, but never abandon your own understanding simply because someone else has a different path. Ifá is not about forcing belief. Ifá is about wisdom, destiny, character, balance, and the way we live our lives. May our ancestors continue to guide us. May our Orí lead us correctly. May Olódùmarè bless our paths.
