Belitung snuck up on us as one of our favourite trips this year. Nothing flashy… it’s the opposite, actually. Just a 50-min direct flight via Scoot, and suddenly we were somewhere quiet. The beaches are the obvious draw, but what got me was how uncrowded they still are. And somewhere along the way we spotted a wild Tarsier, which honestly made me overjoyed simply‘cos the wifey was praying hard to see one on our way there. The simple review is nothing about Belitung tries too hard. Good beaches, good food, friendly people, robust coffee, and time moves slower there. That’s really the whole appeal, and it’s enough.
