Luke Garrett Resecker, a Texas teenager, was sentenced to 65 years in prison following a devastating December 2023 head-on collision that killed six members of an extended family and severely injured a seventh. Toxicology reports revealed that Resecker was impaired by THC and driving with cannabis products in his vehicle when he crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. Highway 67 near Cleburne, Texas, striking a minivan carrying the family as they returned from a holiday outing at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. The tragic crash resulted in the deaths of three generations of the family, left the sole surviving adult paralyzed, and caused a traumatic brain injury to a passenger in Resecker's own vehicle, culminating in his conviction on multiple counts of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

This comment is so ridiculous to me. You’re feeling bad for a kid that just killed six family members because he decided to get behind the wheel drunk. How about we focus on that poor family that lost their lives

This is someone's son, brother, best friend wretching in pain and going through the single worst moment of his life. Filming and posting this for strangers just feels wrong.

I can’t imagine being on either side of this. Six family members gone in a matter of seconds. Six. It’s total devastation. How do you ever recover from that? But I also can’t imagine being 17 and knowing that one horrible decision—to get behind the wheel—resulted in six people losing their lives. A 65-year prison sentence is the physical sentence, but the emotional sentence is truly a life sentence—not only for him, but for his family as well. There is so much grief on every side. It’s just incredibly sad all the way around.
