@songbirdcarolv: What was it that slightly annoyed me about Sutton Foster during my first year as a fan? 👀 🤔 I first discovered Sutton Foster around 2013/2014. I think it was the vid of her in 'Anything Goes' at the 2011 Tony Awards. I was mesmerized! How could you not be? As per usual at the time, I You Tubed other performances of hers and came across the Craig Ferguson trilogy which included this August 2012 clip of Sutton singing "Down With Love". I graduated to forever fan. So what could have possibly annoyed me? It wasn't the Tony Awards performance. It was this video and a couple of her other cabaret style performances. I found myself miffed that she was somehow able to sing a song AND tell the story while keeping her arms straight at her sides. How dare she?! It didn't seem like it should be possible. I sure as hell couldn't make it work. And there she was standing on huge stages DOING JUST THAT. And it was absolutely lovely — telling a story with such quiet sincerity and stillness. Do I also enjoy the more theatrical cabaret style performances by Bette, Liza or Bernadette? Absolutely!
