Kaua’i bought out the electric company and made it a non profit coop. We elect our board by mail in ballot. Our board makes about $20k/yr, the HECO board makes over $200/yr and only cares about profit.

Oahu uses around 8 TWh annually w/ Kauai around 0.3 TWh, so unless we all want to break 🥥 for a livin Kauai’s grid model just ain’t feasible for Oahu 🫣

Honestly, now I wonder if the same faulty formula was used across the other states that followed Hawaii's example?! I know my state recently admitted that a piece of legislation passed by voters, in regards to energy, also "miscalculated" the estimated savings and benefits in the bill and they are having to now pivot and come up with solutions. Thank you for sharing this news about Hawaii, I'm gonna go back through articles I've recently read and see if I can find the one I'm thinking of and see if they may be related at all.
