Lol, jokes on you, I started going to the mortuary as a young girl at 18 up till I was 21 due to a family court case. I watched the person I love most (my dad) decay in different stages and at some point beyond recognition, even when rat ate some part of the body and the morgue tag got lost. I used his teeth to recognize him at some point after searching for him in the morgue on the day of burial. I know Iyi Enu mortuary like the back of my palm. Infact the experience tot me how to even properly cook meat if you want it to be sweetest (I learnt that from one of the resident doctor as I was a frequent visitor), I knew most of the mortuary attendants from July 2019- March 2022.God bless Mr Okon, always tried his best to make sure I was sane (he always said, this girl, don’t you have uncles or brothers every time I came from school with my schoolbag to see my dad, this reminded me I was alone). Everything I went through whilst sponsoring myself in school, I’m just glad I came out kinder but I now avoid my hometown because it just gives me painful memories I want to forget.
