@louiburke: These days, apparently all you need to become a bed expert is an iPhone, a fitted sheet and my videos as reference material. Convenient. I’ve been making beds and setting tables since I was 12, later went on to style them editorially, picked up a degree in design, creative direction and styling along the way, and more recently taught it at uni and here online. After all that, my professional conclusion is surprisingly simple: your bed, and your home, should make sense. Form and function. The first rule of good design. Your bed’s not a filing cabinet. It’s not a shop display. Arrange your pillows in the order you actually use them. Let the sleeping pillows be slept on, the support pillows support and the decorative cushions decorate without staging a hostile takeover. Put-together living is about knowing why something looks good, not simply throwing things at a room and hoping something sticks. That’s what I’m about. Good design that serves a purpose and makes everyday life more beautiful.
