I will never support the polyneaian cultural center. The Polynesian Cultural Center is a masterclass in colonizer whitewashing. The Mormon Church actively participated in eradicating authentic Indigenous Pacific traditions—and now they run a tax-free theme park profiting off a sanitized version of the exact cultures they suppressed. They sell tourists a cheerful, highly profitable luau fantasy while completely glossing over the actual, brutal history of Western colonization, stolen land, and religious imperialism in the islands. Add in the fact that they use underpaid international students to fund the whole operation, and it’s a massive red flag.
