Pampanga is still dealing with the effects of weeks of heavy rain and flooding. Recent reports put the damage across Central Luzon at nearly ₱4 billion, with more than four million people affected. And this isn't just about traffic or inconvenience. For families living in flood-affected communities, this means homes that can't be used, belongings that are destroyed, children unable to attend school, workers unable to get to work, businesses losing income, and farmers and fisherfolk losing their livelihood. Pampanga has already been under a State of Calamity because of the widespread flooding. There are also ongoing efforts to address damaged infrastructure and flooding, including measures around the Sto. Cristo Dam after debris and logs blocked the waterway and contributed to the diversion of floodwaters. But here's the bigger conversation we shouldn't lose: What happens after the floodwaters go down? Will damaged structures be properly repaired? Will waterways and drainage systems be maintained? Will flood-control projects actually protect the communities they're supposed to serve? And will the money allocated for flood mitigation be spent transparently and effectively? We cannot stop every typhoon or every heavy rainfall. But we CAN demand better preparation, stronger infrastructure, proper maintenance, transparent spending, and long-term flood management. Because Filipinos shouldn't have to simply accept that every rainy season means another disaster waiting to happen. Pampanga needs more than relief after the flood. Communities need protection BEFORE the next one. 🇵🇭🌧️ #PampangaFlood #FloodControlPH #CentralLuzon #floodcontrol #Accountability
