@rewildingeurope: Beyond their impressive flights, vultures play a vital role in nature. As specialised scavengers and keystone species, they rapidly clean up animal carcasses, recycle nutrients and help maintain healthy food webs. Their presence is also a sign of functioning ecosystems. 🌍 Europe is home to four native vulture species: the griffon, cinereous, Egyptian and bearded vulture. After disappearing from large parts of their former range, 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀. Across Europe, local teams, partners, and members of the European Rewilding Network are working in various ways to support the vulture comeback.
