@myonizuka: Shymbulak Mountain Resort is the largest and most modern ski resort in Central Asia, located in the Zailiysky Alatau mountain range just 25 kilometers south of Almaty, Kazakhstan. I took public bus for just 30-40 minutes ride to Medeu Valley. Gondola and Lifts are connected to the Medeu landmark (~2200m) by a modern cable car system that takes visitors up through scenic mountain views. Shymbulak station and Combi 1 station are the main resort level and popular with sightseers and hikers. I paid additional 6000T for the open chairlift which not many people dare to ride this. But I am so excited with the scenery and fresh air. I am sitting alone during ascend and descending. Seldom to bump into anyone from the opposite way of the chairlift. It was raining on and off along the way to the highest point by Talgar pass/Combi 2, sitting at an altitude of 3,200 meters (approximately 10,500 feet) above sea level. The final upper station at 3,200 meters offering panoramic 360-degree views of the Tian Shan mountain range.
