PAILIN FASHION COMPANY 🇱🇦 :
I am a Southeast Asian football fan. We have always hoped to see a strong national team capable of representing the region on the Asian and world stages. Over the years, Vietnam has been a team we deeply respect because of its progress, resilience, and fighting spirit.
That is why, when we witnessed unsporting behavior during the match against Palestine, we felt not only disappointed but also saddened.
Palestine is a people who have suffered tremendous losses because of war. They have repeatedly expressed their affection for Vietnam because of the similarities in their histories of struggle and their shared aspiration for peace. Football should have been a place that strengthened this bond, not one that weakened it through actions showing disrespect toward the opponent.
A player wearing the national team jersey represents more than just themselves. They carry the image of an entire footballing nation and the honor of their country on their shoulders. Therefore, fans have the right to expect that, alongside technical ability, players are also educated in sportsmanship, fair play, and their responsibility to the national colors.
What concerns Southeast Asian fans is not merely one incident on the pitch, but also how it was viewed after the match. Was this simply an individual mistake, or did it reflect deeper issues that need to be addressed in the education, discipline, and development of the team’s culture?
We are not looking for excuses. We hope for a clear explanation, an honest acknowledgment, and concrete actions to reaffirm that Vietnamese football continues to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and respect for its opponents.
Because a strong national team is judged not only by its victories, but also by the respect it earns from its opponents and fans across Asia.
