@medicaldoctor48: HOW TO KNOW IF IT’S TRUE LABOUR OR STILL FALSE LABOUR Pregnant mama, not every painful tightening means your baby is ready to come out. Sometimes your womb is simply practising. This is what we call false labour, and it can feel very real, especially when you are close to your due date. So how do you know the difference? TRUE LABOUR With true labour: The contractions become regular and stronger as time goes on. They gradually come closer together. The pain usually continues even when you change position, rest or walk around. The contractions keep getting longer and more intense. You may notice other signs such as a show, your waters breaking, or increasing pressure in your pelvis. Most importantly, true labour causes progressive changes to the cervix, which your midwife or doctor checks during assessment. FALSE LABOUR With false labour: The contractions are often irregular. They may come and go without becoming progressively stronger. They may settle when you rest, change position, hydrate or relax. They usually do not cause progressive cervical dilation. But mama, please listen to me carefully. You cannot always tell true labour from false labour just by the pain you are feeling. Some women have very painful contractions before active labour, while others may have less dramatic pain even when labour is progressing. If your contractions are becoming regular and stronger, your waters break, you have VG bleeding, you notice reduced baby movement, or you simply feel that something is not right, please contact your maternity provider or go to the hospital for assessment. And if you are not sure whether it is true labour or false labour, it is better to be checked than to sit at home guessing. Your baby’s safety comes first. #fyp #TrueLabour #FalseLabour #PregnancyTips #LabourAndDelivery
