Making homemade chia jam is a brilliant thing to do and so handy for breakfast and snacks for the kids. As always, homemade is the ideal but if you need something convenient then this is a really great find in Aldi! When it comes to supermarket jam, there is a lot of variance in sugar content and other forms of sugar can be used too like glucose fructose syrup. So what you want to look out for when buying jam is that it doesn’t contain unnecessary additives and also check the % of sugar in the jam. You can buy jams that have lower % sugar and higher fruit and if you’re trying to reduce your sugar intake or your kids and you go through a lot of jam in the house, then it’s a good idea to swap to a low % sugar jam like this G’s chia fruit spread in Aldi! Only 22% sugar as opposed to 60% which would be common in jams so that’s a huge reduction in sugar! And best of all if your kids will eat chia jam it is very easy to make and super nutritious! Below is a recipe! And an even quicker hack you could try is my raspberry jam hack! You can find it in my reel on kids yogurts which is in my highlight “food labels” 🙌 Chia Jam 250g frozen raspberries 2 tablespoons chia seeds 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup 1. Heat berries in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the fruit begins to break down and bubble. Use a spoon to mash the berries. 2. Stir in the chia seeds until combined. Stir in 1 or 2 tablespoons honey/maple syrup to desired sweetness. 3. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. The jam will thicken as it cools. Was this helpful? I’d love to know in the comments ❤️ .. #nutrition #jam #readlabels #sophiesswaps #cleverswaps #sugarcontent
