pov: you’re up at 3am with your baby again, but this time you know you’re not alone 🌙 it’s 3am, the house is completely quiet, and somehow you’re wide awake again. the baby is awake, you’re exhausted, and you’re sitting there trying to remember when you last actually got a full night of sleep. maybe you’re feeding them, maybe you’re rocking them, maybe you’re walking around the room hoping they’ll finally settle back down. and honestly, there are nights where the loneliness is almost harder than the tiredness. everyone else is sleeping. your phone is probably sitting somewhere nearby, but you don’t really want to bother anyone because what would you even say? “i’m awake again.” “the baby won’t sleep.” “i’m exhausted.” “i don’t know what i’m doing.” sometimes you don’t even need someone to fix anything. you just want to know that someone else understands what this feels like. because being a new mom can feel so isolating sometimes. you can spend your entire day taking care of another person and still feel like you’re doing it completely by yourself. and then there are those little moments where you realize you actually aren’t alone. there are other moms awake at 3am too. other moms staring at the clock. other moms trying to remember how many hours their baby has slept. other moms wondering if this is normal. other moms sitting in the dark with a bottle in one hand and a sleepy baby in the other. other moms who are just as tired as you are, but somehow keep getting up anyway. i think that’s one of the things i’ve needed most during this whole new mom experience, just knowing that someone else is going through the same thing. because sometimes motherhood feels like you’re supposed to know exactly what you’re doing, even when everything is completely new. you’re supposed to know when they’re hungry, when they’re tired, why they’re crying, how much they should be eating, how long they should be sleeping, and whether every little noise is something you should worry about. meanwhile, you’re just sitting there thinking, “i literally have no idea what i’m doing.” 😭 but maybe none of us really do. maybe we’re all just figuring it out one feeding, one diaper, one nap, and one middle-of-the-night wake up at a time. and maybe the 3am moments won’t always feel this hard. someday the baby won’t need you in quite the same way. someday you might actually sleep through the night and look back at these nights differently. but right now, when it’s 3am and you’re exhausted and the baby is wide awake, i hope you remember that there are so many other moms awake too. you’re not the only one counting the minutes until morning. you’re not the only one who feels overwhelmed. you’re not the only one who loves their baby more than anything but still desperately wants to sleep. you’re not the only one figuring it out as you go. sometimes knowing you’re not alone is enough to make the night feel a little less lonely. so if you’re reading this at 3am with your baby in your arms, take a deep breath. you’re doing okay. we’re all just getting through the night together. 🤍 #mom #newmom #momlife #postpartum #momtok
