Stop searches from flooding your Claude chat. Like asking a friend to check the garage. They find the drill and just tell you where. Your main chat only gets the answer. 👇 READ BELOW What it is: A subagent is a helper Claude with its own separate chat, available in Claude Code. It does the digging through files and searches, then hands back only a short answer, so your main chat doesn't fill up. How to use it: 1. Open Claude Code and start a task that needs a lot of searching, like finding where something lives in a project. 2. Ask Claude to hand the searching to a subagent, which is just a helper it sends off to look. 3. Read the summary it brings back, and keep working in your main chat. 4. Ask the helper to name the files it checked, so you can see where the answer came from. Why it matters: Every file Claude opens during a search piles into your chat, and that pile is its context, the memory it works from. A smaller chat spends fewer tokens, which is what your Claude usage is counted in, so you hit fewer resets. Why not: The catch is that you only see a summary, so details can slip, which is why I ask the helper to name the files it checked.
