@bahr_al_basirah: If you grew up with abusive or narcissistic parents, you may have spent years believing that their treatment of you would define the rest of your life. They may have damaged your confidence, taught you to distrust yourself, made you feel responsible for their emotions and conditioned you to survive instead of simply live. But look at the story of Prophet Yusuf عليه السلام. He was betrayed by his own brothers and thrown into circumstances he never chose, yet what they did to him did not become the end of his story. Your parents may have shaped your childhood, but they do not own your future. Healing is learning to take that future back. Reparent the parts of yourself they neglected. Reconnect with the child they didn't protect. Care for your body. Find safe people. Discover what makes you feel alive. Build a life that isn't organised around their dysfunction. You don't have to spend your adulthood proving that your childhood hurt you. You can acknowledge what happened and still become someone whose life is no longer controlled by it. What they did to you is part of your story. It does not have to be the story you keep living. 👥 Follow us to join the family, you are not alone #abusiveparents #fyp #muslimtiktok #islamic_media #islam

Beautifully worded, "What happened to you is part of your story, but it doesn't have to become your identity."
