@halal.zad: The Prophet Muhammad PBUH lived more than 1,400 years ago. So how do Muslims know what he said, what he did, and what he approved of? This is where the science of hadith comes in. Hadith are reports transmitted from the Prophet PBUH, covering his words, actions, and approvals. Muslim scholars didn't simply collect every report and treat them all as authentic. They examined chains of transmission, the people who narrated them, and the reliability of those reports. That process became one of the great scholarly traditions in Islam. Collections such as Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim contain thousands of narrations, including reports with different chains and repeated narrations. The scholars who compiled them applied demanding standards when determining what they would include. The Sunnah is not just a collection of quotes.
