You are comparing two different cases, and that is where your argument falls short.
When Justice Sophia Akuffo was Chief Justice, she publicly praised the introduction of Free SHS and encouraged students to embrace the policy. That was a legitimate expression of support for an educational policy. She was not using the occasion to attack a previous government or make partisan political comparisons.
Baffour Bonnie’s own conduct is different, and I have no reason to defend it. His reference to the past eight years was unnecessary, politically charged and unbecoming of a Chief Justice. There is a clear difference between encouraging a government to improve a policy and using an institutional engagement to make a partisan comparison with a previous administration.
So, if you want to criticize him, criticize him for what he actually said. Do not drag Sophia Akuffo into it as though her support for Free SHS was the same thing. It was not.
And let me be clear: I am not saying the current Chief Justice had no right to visit state-owned institutions. I am saying that having the right to visit an institution does not give him the right to turn that engagement into a political commentary. That is the distinction you should be making.
