@the.ship.electrician: Quick PT100 test Marine Electrician Life Ep. 54 What is a PT100? Simply put, it’s a temperature sensor whose resistance changes with temperature. PT100 has a resistance of 100 Ω at 0°C. As the temperature increases, its resistance increases too. A control system measures this resistance and converts it into a temperature value. Quick check: Measure the resistance → heat the sensor → resistance goes up = sensor is responding correctly ✅ OL (Open Loop) = faulty sensor ❌ #marineelectrician #eto #pt100 #temperaturesensor #electricalengineering @FLUKE Australia @Fluke Corporation
This doesn’t necessarily means this sensor is good. The sensor may have a difference/deviation in it which can cause errors or bad measurements. It’s best to measure the resistance and compare it to the PT100 guidelines. If temperature and resistance is correct the sensor is as well
