@melrobbins: You can't change what happened to you. You can change what happens next. On this episode of The Mel Robbins Podcast, @GaryVee challenges one of the biggest reasons people stay stuck: Blaming your past instead of taking responsibility for your future. Gary is a serial entrepreneur, six-time New York Times bestselling author, and someone who has inspired me for more than a decade. The moment your life changes is the moment you stop pointing fingers and start taking responsibility for what happens next. You can't change what happened. But you can decide where you go from here. 🎧 "Stop Making Excuses: How to Change Your Life Right Now" Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube - search "Mel Robbins Podcast Gary Vee"

At what point are adults going to take ownership of their own behaviour and stop blaming everyone else? Well said by the lady

Because why wouldn't they want better for their kids? I did, and that was my motivation to never let my kids have a childhood they had to recover from! Break the cycle!

Shit take. We all know it's been passed down for generations. It's their complete and total lack of OWNERSHIP that continues the very cycle we are trying to break.

If “it’s not their fault either” then whose is it? Which generation is to blame? Maybe at some point people need to start taking accountability for themselves?

why she have us around granny? I found out stuff after my granny passed. My mom went through traumatic shit. I asked her why she never told us she replied “I didn’t think about it”. How am I supposed to be compassionate with an answer like that?

Yes, it’s not their fault either, but they also need to recognize that as well. It’s not the child’s responsibility to tolerate grandparents’ and parents’ trauma responses and behaviors because they can’t recognize and change it themselves.
