@tom.tpf: Why are there SO many S&P 500 ETFs? 🤔 Same index, dozens of options. Here's how to actually choose one 👇 1️⃣ Fund provider: Vanguard, Invesco, SPDR, UBS, and more all offer their own version. Same idea, different company behind it. 2️⃣ Fees (TER): the annual ongoing charge for holding the ETF. For S&P 500 ETFs available to UK/EU investors, this is typically 0.03%–0.07%. Find it in the KIID. 3️⃣ Trading currency: the same ETF can be listed on different exchanges in GBP, USD, EUR, or CHF. Stick to the currency you hold to avoid FX fees from your platform. 4️⃣ Distribution policy: look for "Dist" or "Acc" after the name. Dist = dividends paid out as cash. Acc = dividends automatically reinvested for you. A few more worth knowing (didn't cover in the video): 💰 Fund size (AUM): bigger funds = more popular, usually more liquidity. Less of a concern with S&P 500 ETFs since the underlying stocks are already highly liquid. ↔️ Bid/offer spread: the gap between buy and sell price. Wider spread = higher transaction cost. Not charged by your platform, but still a cost. Minor factor for S&P 500 ETFs, but worth checking. 🔁 Replication method: most S&P 500 ETFs use physical full replication (they just buy all the stocks). Some use synthetic/swap-based replication instead, which can reduce withholding tax drag on dividends but adds a small layer of counterparty risk. Hope that helps! 🙌 📌 Disclaimer: This content is for informational purposes only and is not financial advice. I am not a financial advisor.
