SAVE this tutorial 🫶🏻 This might be my new favorite DIY gift idea for crafty girls I turned a favorite photo into a cross stitch photo frame using a mat board, embroidery floss, and a little patience and I am SO obsessed with how these turned out. Start by printing your guides (or use graph paper to create your own design), then print your photo and secure it to your mat. I used Stitchpoint.com to create the lettering template. I printed out some lyrics from our first dance song from our wedding 🥹 Make sure you’re using painters tape for delicate services not normal tape!!!! Next, use an awl to punch through all four corners of each X on your template. Honestly, this part was SO satisfying. Once all your holes are punched, carefully peel away the template and keep it nearby for reference. I referenced mine so much because I kept forgetting which X went where / what to do. Then grab your embroidery floss and start stitching! The trick is to make sure you stitch every X the same direction (which side is over and under, I mean) so the finished design looks clean and consistent. Keep stitching until you’ve finished the entire design, then pop it into a frame and prepare to become everyone’s favorite gift-giver (or just make yourself happy too!!!) I added mine to a gallery wall in our living room. This would be such a cute handmade Christmas gift, birthday gift, anniversary gift, wedding gift, or personalized piece of trendy home decor. I especially love the idea of making a few different ones to create a unique gallery wall.
