Digital and physical are the same price. In fact, sometimes physical is cheaper. Digital didn't make it cheaper for us. Just the game publishers.

I'd pay $200 for a special edition disc, with a paper map like GTA 5 did. that way I also know that I physically own the game

This ain’t true a physical disc is mostly always cheaper to buy. That’s the whole issue people have… Yes the consumers should be saving 20 -30 on games if brought digital but we are not we are being charged full retail prices for games that come out years ago that you can get on disc for like £5

yeah but if I lose my account or my Playstation (could be xbox too) breaks or I get false banned from playstation (has happened before), then I no longer have access to that game and have to buy it all over again, I'd rather pay once. and always have the game, because ontop of buying a new console if it breaks, I have to buy the game again, or if I lose my account, etc, its not saving money in the long run

No sir , a disc version can be lended to someone who can't afford to buy , A disc can be given with a huge discount because its used , So the poor in this conversation are in loss , The company now will earn that extra 20-30$ per person because they can no longer get the discounts and get lend discs
