i was thinking this too but i think it’s because there was one injury. not saying i agree because it does deserve news coverage regardless of fatality… but the media disagrees

Because as someone who lives in this town and works in the same district, we are all trying to process and figure out how to move forward.

Because the government is so corrupt all they care about is renaming bodies of water and unborn fetuses instead of actual human lives

Not only that but no one has talked about the fact that they received a threat for the day they would reopen of another shooting. Even the local news is spotty on coverage around here

It's all over Nextdoor, my TikTok FYP, and all the local Facebook pages - people are still talking about it.

local news covers shootings that are in a certain death toll deficit and then once that deficit goes over, national news covers it or one of the big name news stations.

from someone who lives in the town, people are upset and angry about it and most are learning on how to cope with how this could happen. on the other hand, many people are numb to these headlines of school shootings because of how frequent they happen. it always goes in this order - shooting happens, media coverage, “thoughts and prayers”, political commentary, nothing done, repeat. also, the only young people talking about it locally are making the shooting about themselves for a bit of tiktok fame. most graduated or are soon to be graduating some not even from this area. its a whole clusterfuck and change needs to happen but it never will
