The problem may not be your CPU, GPU, or CS2 graphics settings. Windows uses the NTFS file system to manage files stored on your SSD or NVMe drive. When Windows accesses files and folders, NTFS can update metadata such as the Last Access timestamp. During shader-cache activity, antivirus scans, background file indexing, game updates, or asset loading, these additional file-system operations may create disk I/O spikes. This Windows Registry tweak disables NTFS Last Access timestamp updates and reduces unnecessary metadata writes. Open Registry Editor and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem Find or create a DWORD 32-bit value named NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate. Select Hexadecimal, set the value to 80000001, and restart your PC. You can also apply the NTFS metadata optimization automatically with QwikTwik.
