@qwiktwik.com: Are you getting random frame-time spikes, microstutters, inconsistent 1% lows, or short freezes in Counter-Strike 2 even though your FPS is high? The problem may not be your CPU, GPU, or CS2 graphics settings. Windows uses the NTFS file system to manage files stored on your SSD or NVMe drive. When Windows accesses files and folders, NTFS can update metadata such as the Last Access timestamp. During shader-cache activity, antivirus scans, background file indexing, game updates, or asset loading, these additional file-system operations may create disk I/O spikes. This Windows Registry tweak disables NTFS Last Access timestamp updates and reduces unnecessary metadata writes. Open Registry Editor and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem Find or create a DWORD 32-bit value named NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate. Select Hexadecimal, set the value to 80000001, and restart your PC. You can also apply the NTFS metadata optimization automatically with QwikTwik. This tweak does not directly increase FPS or reduce GPU rendering time. It may only improve frame-time stability, microstuttering, 1% lows, and disk-related stutters when NTFS activity is contributing to the problem. On many Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems, Last Access updates may already be disabled or managed automatically, so always compare your results before and after using CapFrameX or PresentMon. #cs2 #counterstrike2 #frametime #pcoptimization #windowstweaks

You can sort this out by locking the frame rate to a stable number. But, for example, I’ve found myself with a 12ms latency and 600 fps. The image was incredibly choppy, and it took me a whole year to realise that the CPU couldn’t keep up with processing the frames from the GPU. Be careful with CS2 to ensure your graphics card isn’t more powerful than your processor. Unfortunately, their engine isn’t particularly well-optimised in this regard when it comes to high-end PCs.
