@catrescue757realtor: Release day. To be honest? I hate it. No matter how beautiful they are, no matter how badly I wish I could scoop every single one up and promise them an indoor home—some cats are simply NOT adoptable. And that’s where TNR comes in. Trap. Neuter. Return. In a very short amount of time, we have pulled 17 of the 19 cats from this location. 😳 SEVENTEEN. These girls can now go back to the outdoor home they know. They’re spayed. They’ve received their rabies vaccines. And most importantly, they have a wonderful, dedicated feeder who takes incredible care of them. Are they going back outside? Yes. Do I wish things could be different? Absolutely. But forcing a truly feral cat into an indoor life isn't always the kinder option. Sometimes the best thing we can do is make sure they are healthy, altered, vaccinated, cared for—and that the cycle ends with them. Because none of this is their fault. Outdoor cats didn't create the community cat crisis. Humans did. They were abandoned. They weren't spayed or neutered. Generation after generation was born outside because somewhere along the way, humans failed them. So far, of these 17 cats: 🐾 5 have been released back to their outdoor home. 🐾 2 more will be released tomorrow. 🐾 Many of the others ARE adoptable and will eventually find their forever homes once they're vaccinated, spayed/neutered and ready. 🐾 And we have just TWO MORE left to trap. 17 down. 2 to go. Two more cats, and we can finally stop the cycle at this location. No more litters. No more kittens being born outside. No more adding to an already overwhelming population. That is what TNR does. So yes, release days hurt my heart. I hate watching them run away from me. But I also know they're running back to the life they know—only now, they can live it without producing another generation of kittens who will have to fight the same battle. Release days.
