![Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the 16th Asantehene (King of the Asante Kingdom) in Ghana. Born Barima Kwaku Duah on 6 May 1950, he is a direct descendant of Osei Tutu I, the founder of the Asante Kingdom. He was educated at Sefwi Wiawso Secondary School, Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School, and later studied accounting at the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), Accra. On 26 April 1999, he ascended the Golden Stool and became Asantehene following the passing of his uncle, Opoku Ware II. As the custodian of the Golden Stool, he serves as the traditional and cultural leader of the Asante people. During his reign, he has become widely respected for: Promoting education through the [Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation] Supporting healthcare and community development projects. Mediating national and traditional disputes. Preserving and promoting Asante culture and heritage worldwide. Leading environmental initiatives, including tree-planting projects around Lake Bosomtwe. He also serves as Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is regarded as one of Africa's most influential traditional rulers.
