Nope. Because “who do you think taught them to behave like that?” Their mom. And since their mom won’t teach them that throwing tantrums and misbehaving doesn’t give them what they want, you taught them. They probably won’t learn from just that, but maybe eventually they will.

You were in the wrong... youre supposed to give the eldest free ice cream and not the rest. it'll force the other kids attention to that sibling and the mother expecting her to do something. giving it to the eldest lets him stand his ground and if the mom takes it he'll resent her and the siblings.
