My brother Bodi is 32, Autistic level 3 with very high support needs. Bodi is non verbal, but he isn't quiet, he makes lots of sounds and vocalisations and Bodi has challenging behaviours. This is profound Autism. Bodi needs full assistance with all of his daily living needs and activities from the moment he wakes, which is regularly as early as 1am, until he falls asleep at night. This includes but isn't limited to toileting, showering, shaving, teeth brushing, wound management from self injurious behaviour, dressing, navigating his technology (TV, ipad, DVD player etc), mealtimes and feeding, medication, getting into and out of the car, accessing the community safely in his wheelchair, being hoisted off the floor due to a fall. Bodi has a severe valgus knee deformity from years of intense rocking behaviours directly related to his Autism, this makes him an extreme falls risk, he also has Osteoporosis and Dysphasia. Autism is a permanent and lifelong disability.
