@antonesnightclub: Remembering Sunnyland Slim on his heavenly birthday today. Sunnyland changed the course of Austin music history. When the genius Chicago blues pianist visited Antone’s in its 3rd week of operation, he stayed in town for a full week. He barbecued with Clifford and his friends, gave them advice, and played four nights with Big Walter Horton from July 30-August 2, 1975. When he returned to Chicago, he told everyone he knew: there’s a club in Austin you need to play. You know the rest. Video of Sunnyland Slim live at Antone’s in 1985.
