In early experiments, some of the newly created motor neurons survived and began forming connections after being implanted into mice. Researchers hope this technology could eventually help scientists study ALS, test potential treatments, and explore future cell-replacement therapies. But let’s keep hope grounded in honesty: This research is still in its early stages. It has not been proven to replace damaged motor neurons, slow ALS progression, or treat people living with ALS.
