Doctors never explained FPIES to us. we had to do our research after they dismissed allergy but said it was just intolerance. But my daughter had horrific reactions to rice that werent an anaphylaxis/allergy but caused severe vomitting & diarrhea. Which in conjunction with a horrible stomach virus around the same time that ended in multiple ER/Urgent care visits with bleeding diaper rashes because it was literally burning her skin the second she went. And then quickly realizing just how much food has rice, rice flour/starch/protein in it, often used as a non-binding agent in spice blends. Having to read every single label everywhere. thankfully she outgrew around 3-4yrs old as is common with FPIES. and quite ironically just turned 9 and LOVES rice, rice noodles.

Wait genuine questions… can this continue into adulthood? My fiancé doesn’t have an allergy to salmon (on blood work) but absolutely cannot have anything with salmon. Severe vomiting hours afterwards. 😭

My girl had FPIES to oats. When we first started she loved eating everything but then the vomiting started and the doctors kept telling us it was just a virus. I figured out it was oats and she hasn’t had any other reactions BUT not she doesn’t really like eating and I’m wondering if the vomiting traumatized her 😭 I just want her to eat more so I don’t have to pump as much
