@centerforbiodiv: When they left the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park this summer, Mollie’s pack unknowingly stepped into danger. ⚠️ These wolves weren’t trying to put their lives at risk. They were simply finding a place to establish their den and raise their pups — a place that happened to be outside of federal protection. This put the iconic wolf family at risk of being killed by trophy hunters, as many other Yellowstone wolves have been, during Wyoming’s hunting season, which opens on Sept. 15. Mollie's pack, led by 12-year-old matriarch 1090F, was originally known as the Crystal Creek Pack before it was renamed in 2000 for Mollie Beattie, the first woman to lead the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. We at the Center for Biological Diversity have been doing everything in our power to save Mollie’s pack, especially as the Trump administration moves to remove Endangered Species Act protections from gray wolves nationwide.
