Everyone in the comments do not understand the difference between civilian disability and VA disability COMPENSATION. The military will take all it can from your mind, body, and soul. You will leave the military with issues. So the federal government created a system to COMPENSATE the service member for ailments that will continue to affect them over the course of their lifetime post service. Hearing damage, back pain, ankle pain, etc. If the service member believes and goes through the process to get their disability, then no matter what position, the branch, or weather or not they deployed they’re entitled to receive those benefits. If you have an issue with the system, go to your local recruiters office and serve 4 years and then form an opinion.

I am completely pro military. But God dang, it’s hard to win. All these people don’t deserve disability. I have a family friend that was in Iraq. He’s a great guy. He was the only one that came back from his group. He watched his friends died. He doesn’t get disability for PTSD.

The VA is absolutely ridiculous. Will give you whatever percent you want. I dated somebody who act he had PTSD and everything else to gain that percentage plus he works a full-time job and makes about 200 grand a year.Plus VA disability money

I'm not trying to call her out, but if she only has 10% for the hip and the rest is PTSD and she is getting 100% disability, it is more than likely that she was assaulted while she was in the military. there aren't very many things that get you 100% disability rating outside of that. it takes a lot to get 100% rating. the VA isn't just handing it out to everyone. I know many veterans who should be getting 100% and are fighting to get that rating. so her job may have been an easy job, but something happened along the way and I guarantee she deserves that disability pay.

Believe it or not but you can still get ptsd without being deployed. We had several in my unit get diagnosed with ptsd due to the way our chain of command treated them.
