saying it's irresponsible for mittens owner to allow her outside is kind of ignorant. Now idk if that's the right word, but either way cats like being outside. There is a thing such as outdoor cats/indoor-outdoor cats. I have raised cats since I was a little kid. They can take care of themselves most of the time, but you can't always expect the worst or best. it sucks when they die because of human machinery or another animal. but it happens. it's really sad, but it's not automatically always the owners fault that the cat WANTS to be outside. let the owner grieve their cat without people in their ear telling them they are a bad person for respecting what the cat wanted in the firer place, or quite possibly an accident. its not helping anyone being hateful.

i don’t think people realise that letting your cat outdoors in the uk is so extremely common. do not blame the owner, cats are animals and deserve to experience the outdoors just like we do. if a person was to be hit by a car and died, should they have just stayed inside? you can tell that mittens was so incredibly loved and people should feel ashamed at how they’re treating her owner. rip mittens, my thought are to her and the owner.

"irresponsible owner. dont let your cat outside and this wouldn't have happened" you do realise that cats cant be controlled?? i have 5 of them, they do not listen! my first cat loves to run outside and will get very violent if i try to bring her back inside. my second cat is very young and loves to run out the front door at every opportunity and will just run from you if you try to get close to him. my third cat is particularly blind and we do not ever let her go outside but she is a curious cat (as they all are) and she will sometimes want to go outside too. then, recently, my moms boyfriend and his son moved in and brought both of their cats. neither of them have ever been allowed to go outside, but one is already starting to show interest in running out. at the end of the day, cats have a natural instinct to be outside, and if they want to be out there, they are going to fight for it. even if you dont "let" them, they always have the ability to sneak around you.
