Kiana’s pilot was never her magnum opus. Honestly it’s a flex if you look into it. Kiana made the concept as a WARM UP. She is so talented she practices character design, show design, show concepts, marketing FOR FUN. She pulled this show out of her mind on a whim and just rolled with it. The pilot was another thing she did on the side of her full time job, again… for fun!!!! If it seems to be lacking, it’s because it’s something she does after WORK. Something these ppl need 💀

I have no industry experience but I can TELL the creator does. Like it LOOKS like a cartoon you’d see on Disney channel. It’s professional and the character designs are incredible. You can immediately tell that Aika is energetic and athletic, while Zara (I can’t remember how the names are spelt) is very closed off and nerdy. Like their designs are incredible. And the story is very engaging, it sets up Aika’s personality immediately, sets up her personal conflict, sets up a mystery and it does the same for the main cast (minus the main villain because we don’t know her goals yet.) and most pilots especially indie pilots don’t do this. A majority do not do this correctly. The critic cannot be farther from the truth.

Mind you, Kiana has worked on Disney Channel multiple times😭Her ASSUMING that a Black woman “only does art” and needs to “compensate” and that she somehow doesn’t have credibility right out of the gate is crazy.

It’s pretty ludicrous to say Kiana doesn’t have enough animation experience when she’s literally a Disney storyboard artist. I think this is a good lesson for young artists to be more respectful, especially if they want to go into animation themselves.
