Jacob already explained this in an interview. He said it wasn’t necessary since the show is visual, it doesn’t need to be said because it is shown.

It works so well in the book, but I don’t think it would work on the TV show or even really in modern times because if it wasn’t caught on mic, someone would’ve read lips or something else would’ve happened. They would’ve been exposed on socials things would’ve blown up a lot earlier, so that’s why they couldn’t include that line.

That line is unnecessary because TV is a visual medium, we can already see people watching them and hear the announcers talking about it. I much prefer the changed line because it shows that Shane’s main concern in that moment was Ilya, not other people seeing them.

It’s important but in my opinion they have to much to “pack” in 6 episodes so probably is small but who knows 🤷🏻♂️Long game should be and hopefully will be in two seasons.
