I think it’s because they want to downplay how many hundreds of millions of people were transported out of the country as slaves. Leaving Africa, as a small country minimizes the slave trade in peoples minds. Also, they want to downplay the idea that Africa really could be a superpower in this world if it was left alone by white people.
