My issue with s&box is that facepunch is surrounded by crypto bros who glaze the hell out of them, constantly reinforcing the wrong decisions and encouraging a system that artificially keeps the player count low. They can sit afk on their low effort, empty game and farm garrys money, because the fewer players there are, the more they can potentially make from the play fund. They need to axe the play fund and instead reward people who actually bring new players into the game and contribute to its growth. I know someone who has literally just sat afk in their own game and made close to $200 from themselves alone, and they got the game for buying a 50p skin in beta. That’s exactly the kind of behaviour the current system incentivises and why the game will NEVER be good (until they make meaningful changes and stop listening to the crypto bro glazers)

I think we’re just in a different era. Gmod and things like it will never be as big as they were because they’re competing with Roblox and Fortnite now that both are on unreal and have more compatibility

lol I remember leaving a comment on one of your YouTube videos many years ago explaining why I thought it was destined to fail... you didn't agree with me, but i think my predictions are correct: people would either make "mini" games on existing popular, low barrier of entry platforms like Roblox or fortnite, or they would just use actual game engines to make games. No matter how many "highly requested" features garry adds, or just straight up makes it good 2, it will still be dead dead and at best remain a niche.

I do not know how much more clear it needs to be. Fill the actual Sandbox gamemode with assets, mechanics and tools. That is how every game that came from GMOD got made. Most people are not developers. They will not care about all the dev tools if they dont like the base game mode.

People like gmod bc its half life, not because it's Garry's mod. That's his mistake, cool graphics with a physics engine the video game. Meanwhile Gmod was physics engine with half life 2, portal 1 & 2, left for dead 1 and 2, and TF2.
