they removed it from modern stories as RDJ himself was suddering with getting out of multiple addictions when the Iron Man movie was first released, but they've acknowledged it since, but not very much as it was still a very touchy topic for the guy and well... getting into the mindset of an addict after being an addict yourself... not exactly the best for one's mental health...
