Even with the Heidi rule, There were still some games taken off to switch like in 2000 they cut off a Chiefs-Chargers game nationwide to announce that George W Bush won Florida in the presidential election

During the first pickle ball championship that no one asked for there was a really good UFL (semi-pro football) game playing. they cut off the final 5 minutes of the game to show the start of the pickleball championship not the actual play but just the start so it was a bunch of announcers welcoming everyone and ppl warming up

I was born in 1982, the day Superman was supposed to air on tv. I only know this because my dad has reminded me about it several times throughout my life. Made for tv was a BIG DEAL.

I was a huge Namath fan when I was a kid. I called the local Miami NBC affiliate five minutes after the game cut out to get the final score. I made them repeat the score twice out of my shock.
