I only have so much energy. I am not going to use it socializing with people who give me friction about my ambitions.

Literally lost a “friend” over this exact sentiment. I wanted more for my career and life and they almost felt like I was “aligning with capitalism” - don’t we have to play the game a bit to make money? I vote blue, I volunteer, I donate, I make real contributions with my success - why would that be so bad? I personally feel they’re are much worse people than me to pick on tbh

I've lost many friends. I don't take kindly to people trying to distract me / hinder me when it comes to my goals ... I don't know I feel like it's evil.

the anti capitalist thing you mentioned about people feeling like being ambitious means failing as a leftist is so real, a lot of my friends are like that and i myself am guilty of feeling that way for a short period of my life but i realized it's actually just the easiest and fastest way to cope with my lack of ambition and fear of failing. it's the biggest lie i have told myself to not feel like i am behind.

I experienced a different flavor of this when I wanted to spend time and money on challenging hobbies like skiing and backpacking as a woman of color - I was accused by other people of color of trying to be white. yes I was engaging in activities that we've historically been left out of. I want to challenge my body and my mind by learning how to do those things as an adult!

and its weird sometimes it doesnt feel intentional, like they're not intentionally attempting to put you down but its because they know they cant do it themselves

i’ve been around people who, when they see you changing and doing well, immediately jump to “so you think you’re better than me now” or “what makes you any better than i am”

Yes!! I grew up poor, no structure and trauma. When I was with my ex. Who came from a privileged background. He criticized me for going to college and wanting to better my life. One reason I left him. I never understood the criticism. Funny. Years later (after I left) decided to go to school (his family supported the whole ordeal). I am still chipping at my education because of the lack of support but… one day I will get there. I am new to left leaning spaces. THIS!! I recognize now that is the perspective my ex was coming from. Thank you!! ❤️

It’s ironic too, because the more we push ourselves to do big things, the better we will be equipped to help spurn others on in their endeavors. Both because of experience but also bc we won’t feel that pit of jealousy/envy because we’ve done hard things too. It’s a very positive circle 👍🏻

Personally I can't be demanding from people who I care about, like the most important thing for me is that they are doing well ,are happy with themselves etc. For me tho to have the connection - I just need to respect them . That's the only condition. And that probably comes very close to what you are talking about. Are they kind, are they curious, are they brave , are they open minded ,are they authentic etc etc etc ...

thank you for talking about this, it’s something i struggle with deeply. To « play the game » is something I feel extreme cognitive dissonance for, even if I have had some success in playing it (mostly before I fully realized what « the game » is in this society and world). Simultaneously, I have this knowledge — that I watched my father struggle with this dissonance as well, his entire life, and he was paralyzed by it. He was brilliant but he let the shame and guilt and reality of this ridiculous game stop him. He didn’t play. But he was swamped with the weight of anger, sadness and poverty, and then subsequent shame of poverty — of having to rely on the very system he didn’t agree with it. In the end, there was no « way out » (unless you are to live in the countryside and make your own food?). So, to play or not play? Can you play in your own way? This life is extremely difficult and complex.

Subservience (2024), starring Megan Fox, follows Alice, an android designed to care for a family and work as a robotic nanny while a man’s wife is hospitalized; however, when she becomes self-aware and dangerously obsessed with her owner, the perfect helper turns into a deadly threat. Beyond its thriller elements, the film explores humanity’s growing dependence on artificial intelligence and raises an unsettling question: what happens when machines no longer just follow commands but begin interpreting emotions and making their own decisions? While the story is fictional and dramatized, it reflects real-world discussions about the future of AI and the importance of ensuring that this technology remains guided by human ethics and oversight. #viral #trending #viralvideo #fyp #parati
