yes indeed like when I went to work and got called at work 4hrs later to be told that my wife drowned our 14month old daughter that was 30years ago back in 1995 I got no warning

My son, 22, is Gen Z but i, 59, am Gen X and that is how I raised him. I am so thankful that he is NOT standard issue as so many others of gis generation. He is well aware that life happens

These kids today are so over-protected by their parents. Gentle parenting does not work. At 17 my Grandfather died. I was so scared to go see a dead body. My father forced me to go. I appreciate it now at 64.

i mean content warnings are useful depending on the context. my mom tried to kill herself when i was 15 and i would probably would have been really distraught if you showed me that movie the week after. i’m fine now but it would be nice to be giving a heads up before any major topics

My kids were raised to know that the world is hard and mean, and cruel. I raised them strong so strong that I would never have to worry about if something happened to me because I knew they were strong enough no matter what came along I didn’t put them in a bubble and protect them from the world. I showed him what it was really raw honesty.
