I tried to feed on demand but sister would get too hungry and then wouldn’t latch because she was so frustrated. So I’ve been waking her up every 2 hours to feed during the day and letting her go as long as she can at night and it seems to be working out

I breastfeed and really only pump when I feel like it and I don’t really have a schedule I just feed him when he seems hungry. That first 2 months is going to be the hardest with cluster feeding plus your nips getting used to the latch but after that it’s a breeze. Also try to latch your baby as soon as you deliver that gives you and them the best odds of a successful breastfeeding journey.

okay so.. i tried pumping while pregnant but basically got nothing. my baby latched very poorly in the hospital, he cluster fed day 2 so he was eating on me literally all day. He could only eat from one side because he cracked the other so by the time we were home day 3 my right side was just engorged and i pumped 6oz of colostrum out. Your milk just comes in naturally day 3-5. My milk was naturally oversupply i was leaking uncontrollably for like the first 2 weeks. Everytime my baby would cry it would let down. I would wake up engorged eithin 2-3 hours of not pumping so i HAD to pump that often the first 2-4 weeks and by then i was able to move to every 4 hours. The let down feels like a tingling sensation like when your limbs go numb. But in your boobs. I didnt have a special or healthy diet but was able to produce 40-50oz a day initially.

Tbh I just feed when he’s hungry rather than trying to be hard on a schedule. I pump for a freezer supply and did every couple of hours on top of breastfeeding the first 2 months. I recommend to pump and feed at the same time. Tricks your body into thinking you have twins thus producing more AND it catches all your let down anyways. I pump when I feed only sometimes and get like 10-40 oz a day depending on how lazy I am

My baby is 6 months and refuses to go more than 2 hours so I feed every 2 hours because I’m with him 24/7 I don’t worry about pumping anymore but he’s my 3rd with my first I had a very small supply and had to pump about every 2 hours. It’s really stressful at first but then it becomes so easy once you get the hang of it!

your milk comes in naturally 2-4 days after you give birth. i’m always around day 3. i nurse as often as baby needs and if they don’t empty me i pump after until we regulate. i let baby sleep 4 hour stretches at night and feed every 2/3 hours during the day. i avoid using a pump to bottle feed if we can since baby is home with me

pump every 2hrs, milk comes in after colostrum. if you don’t pump every 2-3hrs you will feel your breast become more firm and they’ll leak milk easily, milk is produced by demand. the more demand the more supply. babies will cluster feed, this is normal and does not mean you aren’t producing enough, baby is doing it to help your milk supply be established. if you’re not direct nursing you need to make sure in the first few weeks you focus on getting that 2-3hrs schedule so your body doesn’t think it needs to not make milk anymore. milk regulates after ab 6-8 weeks i believe.

The more stimulation to your breasts the more milk your body makes, that’s why getting baby to latch right after birth is very important because your baby sucking is what causes you to produce milk and keep producing, if there’s a lack of stimulation your milk will dry up and that’s why a lot of people end up not being able to breast feed

Don't get discouraged in the first few days of having your baby if you're not making a whole lot, I made almost nothing like the first five days and then like literally overnight I got engorged and started over producing 🫠 I highly recommend body armor, and anything with oats, they helped me keep my supply up so I could keep pumping after my son wouldn't latch anymore

Pho. Just eat pho all the time I’m not kidding. Everyone produces different. I overproduced and fed and pumped like 24/7 then it slowed down and then randomly dried up so I had to go on formula which was stressful. Just try your best!! You don’t really know what to expect tbh, I’m sorry it’s not more straightforward!

your milk will come in with your baby latching and the body being signaled your placenta has left. if you have a c section some times it can make your milk come in later. latch your baby on demand for the first 3 months, if they are hungry give them the b**b if anyone tell your you need formula (besides babies pediatrician) IGNORE THEM the first couple of days before you milk fully comes in babies stomach is small they don’t need formula then they are okay just keep latching them. if you do want to give you HAVE TO pump when baby is taking a bottle if you skip a pump because baby is taking a formula bottle is telling your body your baby needs less milk. Any time your baby doesn’t directly nurse you NEED to pump that is the only way to make sure your supply stays steady. once you get to 5-6 months that is when you can fluctuate any sort of pumping schedule (like going an hour or two later because you had plans) because your supply will be pretty established and your body will know how much baby drinks.

not advice but I didn’t know cluster feeding was a thing 🥲until my son was eating every 30 minutes for the first 2 months 😭 it was exhaustinggg. U can also literally feel your boobs fill up (which is a let down) it’s just stored in the milk ducts in your boobies!

I pumped every 2 hours, demand creates the supply most the time. I had a good milk supply for a few months though and then it left:(

Pump one breast while they are feeding on the other. When my son was in the NICU they had me start pumping every 3 hours to get my milk supply. After I took him home he breastfed on demand. Talk to the lactation consultant at the hospital for sure.

I pump one side while he eats from the other side and then pump whatever is left on the first side just so my body makes more milk. It thinks it has to make more milk, but I tried to pump every 2 to 3 hours except that night. I pumped every 4 to 5 hours.

So don’t pump too much in the beginning because then your body might over produce milk. That was me and I had to pump every 3 hours because they were rock hard and my newborn baby couldn’t drink the amount I was producing…. It was hell don’t do what I did

I am an exclusive pumper and oversupplier (90+ ounces a day)! Your milk comes in on its own! Some have an oversupply, some have just enough, and some are under! A lot is anatomy and genetics and has nothing to do with your routine. If you do EP, just pump as often as baby eats moving forward for at least 15 minutes. That will help you start and maintain a good supply!
